How to increase Car AC efficiency?

Car Air conditioning (A/C) is the new necessity in this time and age of Global Warming. What better than driving in a car with maintained temperature, soft music and the company of your loved ones? Our car A/C s is the key to a comfortable driving experience.
To make sure your A/C is working perfectly and to avoid any problems, the A/C needs to be serviced at least once a year. We also recommend refilling your A/C Coolant after every 20000 km. The most common problems the car A/C can face are as follows:-

  • Refrigerant Leakage (A common reason behind A/C malfunction)

Refrigerant can leak any time, especially when parts of the system become loose, worn, or damaged. A/C refrigerant is a gas and a tiny crack or unnoticeable hole somewhere will lead to leaking of the gas and it will be very difficult to realize that there is a leakage until symptoms of the same are visible. One of the symptoms of leakage is blowing 80°F even though the temperature setting on the dash is at its lowest point. However, leaks aren’t the only reasons why your car may be blowing hot air, so it’s best to get an A/C performance check to figure out the root cause of your A/C issues.

  • Choked Cabin Air Filter and/or Condenser (This may lead to less than expected cooling)

Cabin filter can affect the car A/C system, and thereby the entire vehicle. If the filter is clogged, then A/C needs to be turned up. The harder the A/C works, the more the engine does, too. This leads to other part getting less energy comparatively. When the horsepower-generating parts suffer, we get a feeling that the vehicle is just not running up to the mark. Also, Cabin air is important not only for the long-term maintenance and performance of the vehicle but also for the health of all the passengers. Breathing in clean, fresh air is important, especially on long drives, and particularly on cold or rainy days when you don’t want to open the windows. To be on the safe side, be sure to get the cabin filter checked, or have it changed at regular intervals.

  • Short circuit

Car A/C is electronically operated. Electrical issues such as damaged wires, blown fuses, or a broken temperature sensor can cause the system to malfunction.

  • Fungal build-up (Blockage of A/C vents due to build-up of molds)

Mold in car’s A/C is typically hidden deep inside the dashboard, which makes it difficult to spot. In fact, the signs of mold may not be obvious until the air conditioner has been turned on. Mold that isn’t controlled will continue to grow until it eventually reaches your car’s air vents. It will typically be black, olive green, or brown with a somewhat patchy appearance. Seeing this on your vents is a sign that mold is growing throughout your car’s A/C system.

Keeping the car in sunlight may also help with the issue to some extent. Mold exposure can cause a number of health problems, so this issue should not be taken lightly and the A/C needs to be serviced regularly to avoid such issue.

  • Unusual noise

The reason for the noise could be a faulty compressor or a blocked evaporator coil or accumulation of dust on A/C blower fan motor

  • Unpleasant smell

The reasons could be Dirty vents or air filters which have mould build-up due to non-use for a long time, Leakage of Gas, any rodent or other small animal dying and rotting in the engine compartment

The above problems can be solved through regular A/C servicing. A/C servicing and repair includes
– Faulty Parts Replacement
– Cooling Coil and A/C Condenser Cleaning
– Vent Replacement
– A/C Condenser Recharge with Gas Top-Up
